Student Chapters

The IASNR encourages the creation of university-based student chapters as a means of increasing student involvement in Association affairs and other relevant professional activities. The IASNR Council extends an invitation to all interested students to organize and form student chapters on their campus. Establishment of a student chapter requires application to the IASNR Business Office and approval by majority vote of the IASNR Council.

Student chapters provide students with the opportunity to participate in an international professional organization fostering an interdisciplinary approach at the crossroads of the social and natural sciences. Membership benefits include:

■ A chapter subscription to Society and Natural Resources
■ Symposium registration and travel scholarships
■ Discounted registration fee for annual symposium
■ IASNR Speakers Bureau
■ Leadership experience
■ Opportunities for students to establish professional contacts and transition into their careers or further academic pursuits in graduate programs

Formation Guidelines:

■ Submit a Student Chapter Application, a copy of the chapter’s proposed constitution and bylaws, and a letter of support from their faculty advisor.
■ Two (2) chapter officers are required to maintain IASNR student membership, while all chapter members are encouraged to join IASNR to enjoy the above benefits.
■ The chapter’s faculty advisor shall be an IASNR professional member.

Chapter Renewal: Existing chapters shall submit a Student Chapter Renewal Application and a brief end-of-year report (in letter or memo format) on or before June 30 of each year.

We look forward to your group joining us!!
